I heard that there were some recent changes to how RRSP’s were treated in a bankruptcy but don’t see anything on your website relating to this. What are these changes

While there are some proposed changes to the Bankruptcy Legislation that may affect how RRSP’s are treated, those changes have not been implemented as law. The last word w had is that the Jean-Pierre Blackburn, The Minister of Labour, introduced a ways and means motion to amend the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act on December 11, 2006, to introduce an Act to, but this motion still must be voted on prior to the introduction of the actual bill. The result is we have no idea if an when this will take but in best case scenario it will be difficult for any of these amendments to become active until Early 2008.
