On my credit report I have noticed that there are two hard inquires from two collection agencies. I never agreed to credit with these two companies and wonder why this was done and if this was done lawfully? Do I have any recourse?

Typically what happens is that you have given permission to the lending institution to make inquires from the credit bureau, this is a fairly standard clause in most loan agreements. Now while the permission wasn’t given directly to the collection agencies, they will be acting as the lender’s agents and therefore the permission they have is directly a result of the permission given to the lenders.
