Garnishment

Hello,
I currently have several garnishments taken off me at work (20% of my wages). However, I also owe Revenue Canada and they have just sent my employer another garnishment for 30%. My employer told me that there is not problem with the garnishments totaling 50% of my wage in total, but I can’t afford it. What would you suggest I do?

If you are in a position where you simply cannot afford to live and have the garnishee taken off I suggest you contact a trustee as soon as possible. By filing for either a bankruptcy or a consumer proposal will stop both of these garnishees. Make sure you notify the trustee’s office of the garnishee so they can ensure that they meet with you and process the necessary documents as quickly as possible.
