I’ve read in some sites that say a bankruptcy is erased from your credit file after 7 years and some says 6 years.

Which one is it?

Technically speaking both Equifax and Trans Uniion stipulate that the credit file will be purged 6 years from the date you are discharged. However, as the average bankruptcy takes 12 months to complete the result is normally a total impact on 7 years.
