I am being sued civilly and I am pretty sure I am going to loose.

Is this a debt that can be erased if I file a bankruptcy?

This is really going to depend on what type of civil lawsuit you are involved in. However, the general rule is that the debt would be cleared unless it realts to a criminal or quasi criminal fine / restitution order or a civil lawsuit involving intentional bodily harm, sexual assult or wrongful death.
