Hello,

Just wondering if someone in bankruptcy, and not yet discharged, is able to have a credit card?

The reason I ask is that I was pre-approved for a credit card, I have received it and have not used it.

Am I able to use it?

The only requirement is that while you are in bankruptcy you must disclose that you are in bankruptcy if you are borrowing more than $500. Failure to do so would be considered an offense under the Bankrutpcy and Insolvency Act and can cause you problems when it comes to discharge time.

As long as you make the necessary disclosure you shouldn’t have any difficulties.
