If one has applied for bankruptcy, however; has not completed the steps and the original trustee advised they have `pulled one out of bankruptcy`…(I`m assuming this means the trustee has pulled themself out of the bankruptcy)can a person change trustees or do they have to re open their bankruptcy with the same trustee to get the ball rolling to gain a discharge?

You will need to go back to your original trustee. Only if your original trustee is unwilling to act would it be appropriate for another trustee to get involved.

Another option is that you could engage the help of a lawyer to close your file, but in my experience is the lawyer really just contacts the trustee, the trustee’s requirements must be fulfilled on top of your legal costs, so it tends to work out to be quite a bit more expensive.
