I just got notice of a garnishee. I know I owe the money, I can`t dispute that, I can`t pay the bills, so I figure I have only one choice. I must file a bankruptcy so they can`t garnishee my pay check. My two questions are first the bankruptcy prevents the garnishee, right? My second question is how fast can I get this done, pay day is next friday (today is Thursday)?
I need to file bankruptcy ASAP. How fast can I do it?

This is more dependent on you than it is on the trustee. You will need to file an application form with the trustee to get things started. Typically this is preceeded by an initial consultation, but we do have some flexibility. Under normal circumstances we find it takes roughtly 4 or 5 business days, but if there is an imminent threat of a garnishee or some other circumstance that requires immediate action we can often process things same day if absolutely necessary.
