I need information on student loans. I have now been out of school for about 8 years and need to know what to do to deal with these student loans. I cannot afford to pay them, and they have been haunting me for far to long.

On July 7, 2008 the rules for student loans changed. Under the old rules student loans could not be compromised by the filing of a bankruptcy or a proposal unless you had been out of school for 10 years. Under the new rules this has changed to 7 years. So you should contact a local trustee and discuss directly with them how the filing of a bankruptcy or a proposal can help you to deal with the student loans.
