bankruptcy and current years taxes.

I think the only thing I can do is file for bankruptcy. i have been thinking about this for over a year, I already know I qualify. but i have a question. I already owe taxes from last year (just under a thousand bucks) and I know I will owe more this year (for 2008). Do I need to wait until my taxes are done (april or may)) to be cleared from these, or can I just file now?

There is no problem with just filing at any point in the year. Taxes are cleared up to the date of bankruptcy irrespective of what part of the year it is in. Although for you as the year is just about out so it really make very little difference.
