second bankruptcy

I had to file bankruptcy about 11 years ago. I am a compulsive gambler and I was doing good for about 9 years. But in the last 2 eyars I have lost a lot of money from gambling and in the stock market. So now I am over $60K in debt, with about $47k in credit card debt.

I am almost 50 and I don`t see any way of getting out from under this debt.Would I be able to file a second time as this was the reason I filed my first bankruptcy?

Yes, you can file a second bankruptcy. The trick is the second bankruptcy is more difficult than a first bankruptcy so we often suggest people consider filing a consumer proposal instead as it is a mechanism that can help you to deal with the debt but also will allow you to avoid some of the difficulties associated with a second time bankruptcy. For more information your are best to contact a trustee directly.
