I have been considering bankruptcy for over a year. I just have way too much debt. I already know I qualify but have a question.

I already owe a few thousand dollars in taxes from last year and I know I will owe more for 2008. Are taxes cleared by a bankruptcy?

Yes, all taxes are cleared by a bankruptcy up to and including the date the bankruptcy is filed. This has an impact on how your taxes are prepared for the year of bankruptcy, but it is a simple adjustment that will be explained to you when you meet with a trustee.
