After a person files for bankruptcy and the calls stop, then a letter comes in the mail from a credit card company stating you have until the end of the month to pay something or they will refer your account to a lawyer or third party collections, does that mean the trustee has not contacted them or is it just a scare tactic? Thanks for your time.

It is not unusual for the collection calls to stop much quicker than the threatening letters. What this likely means is that institution in question likely has an insolvency department and it is this department that the trustee must correspond with. The difficulty is these departments are often quite slow to inform the local branches and collection departments. As a result these types of mail are quite common. What I would recommend is you contact your trustee office just to confirm that you listed this creditor and if so, don’t worry about it. If for some remote reason this creditor was missed simply ask the trustee office to send out documents to the creditor in question.
