I know there are some changes to the Bankruptcy rules that are being considered, but I am not sure if they are in place or not. Do you know when do the new rules for automatic discharges from 9 months to 24 months change officially?

While some of the new rules were implemented on July 8, 2008, very few of them camp into play. The provisions of the act that extend the length of time for certain automatic discharges did not. Although, I have found that many of the changes to the legislation are simply codifying current practice of the court, so there is a risk that you will still have your length of discharge extended if you have significant surplus, a previous bankruptcy or some of those other situations that the legislative changes touch on.
