What else can I do? I filed a bankruptcy 6 years ago as a result of a divorce. Now I have become ill and am no longer able to work. Is there any way I can avoid a bankruptcy?

The best way to avoid a bankruptcy is typcially through the filing of a consumer proposal. This is a court sanctioned way to negotiate a settlement with your creditors while avoiding some of the negatives associated with a second bankruptcy. I would suggest you contact a local trustee and discuss this option with them in greater detail to determine if this is possible given your situation.
